Muchie Dagliere

Muchie Dagliere was a four year starter at Second Base for the Minutemen.
As a Freshmen (1995) Muchie helped Umass earn their first trip to the NCAA Regionals since
1978 by compiling a .343 avg. 62 hits, 50 runs, and 8 HR’s.
In 1996, the Minutemen earn their second straight NCAA Regional Tournament
appearance by winning the A-10 Tournament. Muchie set a school single season record
for hits with 81 while hitting .415, 60 runs, 53 RBI's and 13 doubles.
Through a variety of injuries during his junior season (1997), Muchie was still
able to earn Third Team All-American honors and Second Team All-A-10 honors by still
playing in 41 games and hitting a career low of .318 with 47 hits, 36 runs, and 36 RBI's.
Muchie bounced back healthy for his senior year (1998) by compiling one of the
best seasons in school history and ending with arguably the best career of any Umass
Baseball Player ever in the program. He hit an amazing .444 (7th nationally) in 151 AB’s
with only 4 K’s ranking him the 6th toughest player to strikeout in the country.
Muchie also captured 6 Umass Career Hitting Records (AB’s, Runs, Hits, RBI’s, Avg, Sac Flies
and second in games played and total bases) and set multiple Single Season Hitting
Records including Batting Avg and a 31 game hitting streak. Muchie is also the only
Minuteman to earn 3 All-American Awards and 2 in one season ( NCBWA 2nd Team and ABCA 3 rd Team in 1998)
Muchie’s class of 1998 ended their career with 140 victories and 51 loses,
4 A-10 Division Championship
2 A-10 Tournament Championships
3 Beanpot Championships,
3 Top Team in New England.
